Printpack's facility in Bloomington, Indiana is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to champion our safety journey to prevent accidents and injuries while responsibly operating within our community and environment.

This position will provide you with a chance to champion Printpack Bloomington's EHS programs through associate engagement, hazard identification/elimination, and equipping associates with the skills, tools, and environment to build a world class safety culture. The minimum requirements for the EHS Manager include:
  • Bachelor's degree (Science, Engineering or related Environmental, Safety and Health Field preferred), and/or equivalent job-related experience

  • 2+ years of experience in EHS management.

  • Experience leading and driving a safe, inclusive culture

  • Detailed knowledge in OSHA, EPA and DOT Regulatory requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

The EHS Manager will:
  • In collaboration with Printpack Corporate EHS, create, implement, and manage all EHS programs for Printpack Bloomington in accordance with all current and applicable laws, company policy, and good manufacturing practices to ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant workplace.

  • Develop and lead the EHS training program so that all associates have the tools they need to work safely.

  • Lead risk assessment exercises to anticipate hazards and prioritize solutions.

  • Develop reports and tools for assessing, measuring, and reporting the effectiveness of safety and environmental processes and culture.

  • Investigate all incidents to ensure proper plant response, identify the root cause, and establish methods to prevent recurrence.

  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of EHS-driven capital projectsto ensure compliance with requirements and completion on a timely basis. This includes recommendations of EHS capital equipment purchases and other equipment to improve site safety and environmental conditions.

  • Hire and manage contractors and consultants where required to complete EHS activities in a timely manner and within budget.

  • Conduct audits and inspections of plant activities, and train others on conducting such audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all EHS programs. Drive completion of all action items to close findings and gaps.

  • Create, lead, and manage plant emergency response programs with respect to fire, inclement weather, environmental spills, and other types of emergencies.

  • Identify and develop good working relationships with state and local authorities (i.e., state/local environmental and safety agencies, wastewater authorities, fire departments, etc.).

Preferred Requirements
  • A proven track record of establishing a strong Safety Culture and programs through associate engagement and empowering Front Line Leaders.

  • A substantial history of Support Leadership with a focus of cross-functional deliverables that support the Leadership on the floor through empowerment and clear direction.

  • The ability to influence Operations and the Business to execute EHS strategies through justified projects and operational changes.

  • Working knowledge of engineering, Factory Mutual, environmental, and safety standards

  • Working knowledge of EHS management systems (ISO and VPP)

  • Experience with OSHA VPP Star certification process
