POSITION TITLE: Food Pantry Assistant

REPORTS TO: Food Pantry Manager

STATUS: Part time, Non-exempt - 20 hours per week

COMPENSATION: $18.00

GENERAL STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Food Pantry/Warehouse Assistant works in the Tacoma Client Choice Food Pantry and Warehouse. The FB/WA keep a consistent flow of goods through the Food Pantry to assure that clients with dignity. The food Pantry is an important part of our fight to provide basic human needs in the City of Tacoma.

ESSENTIAL FOOD PANTRY ASSISTANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Sorting and preparing bulk foods and produce for distribution to clients
  • Mopping floors, cleaning shelves, cleaning refrigeration and freezer units
  • Restocking shelves
  • Assisting household members as they choose items from the Food Pantry
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Food Pantry Manager
  • Following all Safety Regulations as outlined in the Safety Training
  • Must possess a valid Food Worker Card
  • Must Pass a national criminal background check
  • Must complete Protect the Mission training


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES RELATED TO FOOD PANTRY ASSISTANT:
* 18 years of age or older.
* Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds to waist level.
* Knowledge of De-escalation principles
* Basic data entry skills or willingness to learn
