Position description

UCLA Law School invites applications from tenured and tenure-track faculty interested in visiting UCLA Law to teach during the Spring 2025 semester and to provide opportunities for students and faculty members to meet and consult with prominent scholars in the field. These are academic, non-tenure track, limited-term appointments.

We seek visiting faculty across all areas of law but, for the Spring 2025 semester, the School is especially interested in applicants who have relevant experience in teaching courses in criminal law. Decisions will vary according to a variety of factors. These include curricular need and course scheduling as well as the particular course the applicant proposes to teach. Some courses may be offered to JD and LLM candidates, some may be directed solely to LLM candidates, and some courses may be targeted to students in our master's degree program for non-lawyer professionals.

Requirements: A J.D., Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree; excellent standing in the field of study; a substantive record of research, publications, and/or law reform activities; significant contributions to the profession or professional organizations; and experience within a distinct legal specialty. Successful law school teaching experience strongly preferred. An applicant must either hold or have held a faculty position at an academic institution; or the applicant must have research, creative activities, or professional achievement that make a visiting appointment appropriate. We welcome visiting faculty whose experience in teaching, research, and/or service has prepared them to contribute to a campus climate that supports equality and diversity. The actual pay rate for part-time positions will depend upon specific teaching assignments and number of units taught. A reasonable estimate for this position is $8,000 per semester to $32,000 per semester.
