Summary
Performs breast imaging procedures including mammography and mobile mammography.

Job Duties

  • Provides input and suggestions for ongoing improvement of all departmental functions.
  • Assists with breast imaging and other procedures.
  • Assists with patient triage to ensure appropriate scheduling of patients and proper identification prior to imaging.
  • Assists with the collection of quality assurance data, patient tracking, and outcomes data.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complies with radiation safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and provides patient education and counseling as indicated by patient need.
  • Ensures images are upload and transferred into the network's PACS system for interpretation.
  • Recommends and implements appropriate actions based on quality assurance findings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Specialized Diploma Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • Less than 1 year experience in screening and diagnostic mammographic breast imaging
  • Ability to initiate, accept, and adapt to constant change within a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to perform quality imaging and communicate with patients
  • Flexibility in work hours and/or sites to meet identified needs. Performs necessary assignments as directed
  • RT - Registered Technologist Radiology - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • CMT - Certified Mammography Tech - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Within 60 Days

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree AAS, Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology
  • 1 year in screening and diagnostic breast imaging or
  • Experience with full-field digital mammography and/or 3D mammographic imaging

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
