Summary

Drive front load refuse 3-axle truck. Front-load refuse collection from 8 CY containers and delivery to local solid waste landfill. Miscellaneous duties associated with the front load refuse collection and disposal.

Please note this is an on-call position. The pay rate for this position is $26.00/hour + $4.57/hour H&W.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Drive front load 3-axle refuse collection truck
  • Follow safety rules and policies
  • Perform routine maintenance such as greasing friction points on the vehicle
  • Perform periodic cleaning of 8 CY containers
  • Pick up of spillage resulting from emptying 8 CY containers
  • Relocate 8 CY containers
  • Perform routine maintenance of 8 CY containers
  • Availability for occasional overtime work for situations to include emergency response, disasters, emergency troop deployment, and special events
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Class B CDL or higher with a clean driving record
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with driving front-load refuse collection trucks
  • Ability to pass a background check for Federal or Government agencies to obtain security access badging
  • United States Citizen
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to talk in person, over radio equipment, and in a construction environment. The employee must be able to pass on information via the telephone and verbally communicate with others, hear, and see in order to perform his or her duties in a safe manner. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., walk, bend, push, pull, and stand is needed to perform all requirements of this position.}

Work Environment

The work environment will be field work outdoors and truck cab.

Work Schedule: Generally, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or as business/operations dictate
