Northampton Community College is currently accepting applicants for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Adjunct Instructor due to anticipated enrollment for the upcoming 2026 Spring term. All courses are scheduled for weekday mornings or evenings. Most classes will meet in person; remote teaching options are limited.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Provide high quality English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction at specific levels and skill areas; hold office hours for academic consultation for students.

* Provide learner centered instruction with appropriate assessment.

* Create course syllabi and lesson plans following the ESL department established curriculum guidelines; integrate a variety of sound instructional methods and technology into daily classes.

* Produce relevant and reliable assessment tools and conduct routine assessment to evaluate student progress throughout the semester.

* Carry out final assessment for each course which reflects the material taught throughout the semester.

* Maintain the ESL department's mission and policies.

* Collaborate with ESL staff on programs, curriculum, and activities.

* Provide culturally appropriate classroom leadership.

* Attend training and staff meetings as required.

Qualifications:

*Master's degree in TESOL or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution

*Demonstrated knowledge of language teaching and learning

*College teaching experience preferred

*Ability to work with diverse groups of students

*Strong verbal and written communication skills
