Position description

UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine General Medicine Night Hospitalist Position

The UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine at UCSF Health is seeking applicants for the General Medicine Night Hospitalist position. Our goal is to provide these new faculty members with clinical experiences that match their career interests, whether they are pursuing subspecialty fellowships or planning to remain in long-term clinical or academic hospitalist positions.

Job Details:

Position Overview: The Night Hospitalist Service (NHS) provides direct care to patients and supervises the patient care of internal medicine resident physicians overnight. The role offers a dynamic environment with a focus on comprehensive patient management and collaboration with other hospitalists.

Key Responsibilities:

Parnassus Heights Campus: NHS hospitalists primarily work at the UCSF Helen Diller Medical Center at the Parnassus Heights campus. Four night hospitalists are in-house with specified roles and responsibilities related to hospital medicine patients, including: triaging new admissions requests, admitting and cross-covering hospitalized patients, providing medicine consults to patients on other clinical services, and supervising patients cared for by the internal medicine resident physicians. The hospitalists provide clinical care for 12-hour shifts overnight and sign out to the daytime direct care hospitalist teams and resident physician teams in the morning.

Mission Bay, Mount Zion, and Saint Mary's Campuses: NHS hospitalists may also work nocturnal shifts at Mission Bay, Mount Zion, and Saint Mary's Hospital. The night shifts at these campuses have responsibilities similar to those at Parnassus Heights, but with simplified scope depending on the campus.

Please contact Esther Hsiang (Esther.Hsiang@ucsf.edu) for any questions.

To best meet the needs of our diverse patient population, trainees, and the city of San Francisco, the Division of Hospital Medicine is specifically seeking applicants who demonstrate a unique contribution and commitment to diversity. We define diversity broadly, including but not limited to age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ability, first generation to attend college, disadvantaged social or educational environment, low family income, and lived experiences.
