Encova Insurance is seeking a Solution Architect, AWS for our Columbus, Ohio location. In this role, you will have the option to work a flexible hybrid schedule with time in office as requested for meetings and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Future State Architecture:

  • Develop and define the future state cloud architecture that aligns with Encova's business goals and cloud-first strategy
  • Design scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions on AWS that support the organization's long-term vision.
  • Leverage AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and others to architect end-to-end cloud solutions.

Design and Improve Disaster Recovery (DR) Posture:

  • Lead the design of disaster recovery (DR) strategies and solutions, ensuring that Encova's critical workloads are protected and resilient in the event of disruptions.
  • Architect cloud-based DR solutions using AWS services to meet business continuity and recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
  • Develop a comprehensive DR plan for moving on-premises systems to the cloud, including replication, failover strategies, and automated recovery processes.
  • Design and test DR processes to ensure the systems can quickly recover from failures with minimal impact on business operations.
  • Collaborate with business continuity teams to ensure that the DR strategy aligns with regulatory, compliance, and organizational risk management requirements.

Lead the Cloud Migration Journey:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud migration strategy for moving Encova's on-premises applications, workloads, and data to AWS.
  • Define a roadmap for migrating workloads to AWS
  • Work with cross-functional teams to prioritize workloads and manage the execution of the cloud migration plan.

Design Secure and Compliant Solutions:

  • Work with security teams to incorporate best practices for cloud security, including identity and access management, encryption, and threat detection.
  • Implement Zero Trust security architecture principles to protect cloud environments.

Collaborate with Stakeholders:

  • Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable cloud solutions.
  • Act as the main point of contact for architecture and design discussions across various teams, including DevOps, security, infrastructure, and business units.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams throughout the cloud transformation journey, helping to troubleshoot and resolve complex architectural challenges.

Optimize and Future-Proof Solutions:

  • Design for cost optimization by evaluating AWS services and architectures for efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, including infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and maintenance, to drive operational efficiencies.
  • Stay current with emerging AWS services, industry trends, and best practices, and ensure solutions are designed with future scalability in mind.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, required.
  • 8+ years of experience in designing and architecting IT solutions, with a strong focus on cloud-based solutions.
  • Proven experience in AWS cloud architecture and services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and others.
  • Experience with cloud migration methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to design solutions for complex business needs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and with business stakeholders.
  • Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) are highly preferred.
