Estimator

Summary

Layton Construction is looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team. You'll prepare hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimates for healthcare and industrial projects, working alongside project teams and trade partners to deliver accurate, competitive pricing.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams and customers.
• Ensures that "Construction with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Works well with Layton's "Two in the Box" application - working well with your counterpart to ensure successful project delivery and to strengthen client relationship.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience estimating healthcare and/or industrial construction projects, including hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating. (Open to other relevant industry experience)

• Excellent working knowledge of Timberline and Excel software.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to operate office equipment, such as computer, printer, phone, copier, fax, etc.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Primavera systems preferred.
  

The full salary range for this position is $110,000 to $155,000. This position is eligible for a target bonus.
