Position Summary
We are seeking an Academic Professional (AP) Track (non-tenure) faculty member with interest and experience in graduate education to serve as a core faculty member in our Doctor of Education (EdD) in Kinesiology program. The EdD in Kinesiology is an online, cohort-based, interdisciplinary degree program tailored to meet the needs of professionals in kinesiology. Our EdD students are working in varied areas across kinesiology (e.g., athletic training, physical education, coaching, sport psychology, physical therapy, strength & conditioning, health & fitness, recreation, dance), bringing professional skills and expertise to the forefront of their work. Their dissertation projects are designed to have real impact in their professional practice or community; translation of their findings into action is key to a successful dissertation. The online EdD in Kinesiology has been in high demand since we welcomed the first cohort in 2014, and we have high retention rates with over 90% completing their degree on time. More information on the program can be found at: https://kin.uncg.edu/graduate-degrees/doctor-of-education-online/ Primary responsibilities include teaching, advising, and supervision of dissertations in the EdD program. EdD core faculty are also expected to contribute to program development, assessment and continuous improvement, and to participate in virtual and in-person EdD activities. Teaching may also include undergraduate and graduate courses in other areas of Kinesiology relevant to one's expertise. All faculty are expected to engage in departmental, university, and professional service activities.
The AP Track offers non-tenured rankings of Assistant Professor through Professor, with an emphasis on teaching and other professional responsibilities. Appointments are renewable. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence (AP associate/full) or strong potential (AP assistant) in graduate teaching and mentoring, with particular interest in supporting professional doctoral students in an online learning environment.
