What to Expect
Tesla Insurance is looking for a talented Paralegal to join the Legal & Compliance team supporting Tesla's innovative insurance business. You will be a key partner on an interesting mix of corporate matters, extra-contractual and claims litigation, and subpoena response.
This role requires exceptional organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing deadlines without dropping details. You will collaborate with the Legal, Claims, Compliance and Policy Services teams. The pace is fast, priorities shift, and ownership is expected.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Legal to assist with document production/privilege review support in response to civil, regulatory, and law-enforcement requests, as well as the preparation of privilege logs
- Organize and maintain document collections and e-discovery workflows (including Relativity or comparable platforms); prepare deposition and hearing binders, exhibit lists, and witness materials as needed
- Occasionally prepare, cite-check, proofread, and e-file pleadings, deposition notices, requests for Examination Under Oath, and assist with UM/UIM arbitration proceedings
- Coordinate with outside counsel on staffing, budgets, status reports, discovery, and trial/hearing logistics; ensure work product, invoices, and matter files meet Tesla standards
- Conduct factual and other research; draft correspondence, standard discovery responses, and internal updates that are accurate, concise, and ready for attorney use
- Take on additional legal projects as assigned
What You'll Bring
- 2+ years of relevant paralegal experience managing litigation matters in-house or at a law firm (insurance defense, coverage, extra-contractual/bad faith, or claims litigation strongly preferred), including subpoenas/third-party records requests, objections, meet-and-confers, and productions; strong working knowledge of litigation procedure (insurance-related a plus)
- Bachelor's degree or paralegal certification preferred or equivalent experience; familiarity with insurance corporate/regulatory work (DOI correspondence, licensing, entity governance, or insurance contracts) a strong plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce polished filings, tables of authorities, chronologies, and executive-level updates
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and fact-finding skills, with comfort juggling a high volume of matters under tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, court e-filing systems, and matter-management or e-discovery tools
- A proactive, ownership-minded approach, discretion with confidential information, and flexibility to take on new areas of responsibility
- Genuine interest in Tesla's innovative products and insurance business, plus the ability to translate operational and technical facts into useful legal support
