The Gaming Technology Specialist builds relationships with patients and their families through gaming system and recreational play therapy. The Specialist develops, coordinates and implements gaming related programs that support Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO)'s Child Life and Seacrest Studio goals and objectives.
The Gaming Technology Specialist is part of the Children's Hospital Colorado Child Life team and is responsible for providing overall gaming implementation, strategy, training, and technical support (various XR platforms, PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox, PC, iPads, etc.). This role also supports and leverages STEAM-focused technologies and makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, laser cutting machines, plotting devices, digital fabrication tools, and other emerging creative technologies that enhance patient engagement, learning, and therapeutic experiences. The position leads the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of gaming systems, makerspace technologies, peripherals, and related hardware within the context of the Child Life Department, along with documenting and assessing the use of these technologies in clinical applications (from recreational play to procedural support and everything in between). The Gaming Technology Specialist serves as part of the Extended Reality Program, a group of multidisciplinary leaders spearheading the use of XR technology and other innovative digital experiences throughout the hospital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- 1. Provides overall gaming implementation, strategy, training and technical support to the program.
2. Creates and leads the life cycle of system implementation and upkeep, including the installation, training and technical support
3. Utilizes industry knowledge to implement best practices on all applicable gaming systems, equipment, and emerging technologies
4. Disseminates technical knowledge, including formal training across the Child Life team and other individuals and departments across the hospital
5. Coordinates the development and maintenance of departmental resources
6. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, updates and repairs gaming systems and related peripheral equipment
7. Coordinates with clinicians to develop care plans related to gaming in both inpatient and outpatient setting
8. Works closely with patients and families to deploy appropriately-assigned gaming technologies
9. Collaborates with team members on research related to gaming system implementation and outcomes with relation to patient care
10. Serves as a representative of the program between program, department, CHCO and community partners.
11. Leads special projects involving gaming and XR technologies, including but not limited to presentations for leadership, donors, partners, and other key stakeholders
SCOPE & LEVEL
* Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $29.18 to $43.78
