Job Summary The Plant Inspector I is an entrylevel support role responsible for performing routine inspection and quality verification activities within a manufacturing or plant environment. This role focuses on ensuring products, materials, or processes meet defined specifications and quality standards while developing foundational knowledge of inspection methods, safety practices, and quality requirements.
Job Description Role Overview The Plant Inspector I performs taskbased inspection activities following clearly defined instructions, drawings, and quality standards. The role is developmental and provides exposure to quality systems, inspection tools, and manufacturing processes. This position typically reports to a Quality Supervisor, Quality Manager, Manufacturing Supervisor, or equivalent leader.
Key Responsibilities Basic Inspection & Quality Verification
Perform routine inspections of parts, materials, or finished products according to specifications Verify dimensions, appearance, labeling, and basic functional requirements Follow written inspection instructions, checklists, and quality standards
Use of Inspection Tools
Use basic inspection equipment (e.g., gauges, rulers, calipers, templates) as trained Handle inspection tools properly and report issues or calibration concerns Learn proper measurement and verification techniques
Documentation & Recordkeeping
Accurately record inspection results, measurements, and observations Complete inspection logs, check sheets, or system entries as required Maintain traceability and documentation in accordance with quality procedures
Nonconformance Identification & Reporting
Identify defects, deviations, or outofspec conditions Clearly document and report nonconforming items to supervision or quality staff Segregate or tag nonconforming material when instructed
Safety & Compliance
Follow all plant safety rules, PPE requirements, and safework practices Perform inspections in accordance with environmental, health, and safety guidelines Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately
Production & Team Support
Support manufacturing or production schedules by completing inspections on time Work collaboratively with operators, quality staff, and supervisors Assist with other basic qualityrelated tasks as assigned
Learning & Skill Development
Learn quality concepts, inspection methods, and product requirements Develop accuracy, consistency, and attentiontodetail skills Participate in training, onboarding, and quality improvement activities
Qualifications Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required Entrylevel role; typically 0-1 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, inspection, or related environments Prior production, assembly, or quality exposure preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
