Molex is seeking a talented Advanced Quality Planning Manager to join our Transportation Solutions Business Unit.

As an AQP Manager, you will direct the Advanced Product Quality program for the Americas Design Center and Lincoln, Nebraska plant in our Transportation Solutions Business Unit. You will work to produce a Product & Process Quality Plan which will support new development or modification of products that will satisfy Customer Expectations in Cost, Quality, Delivery, etc.

What You Will Do

  • Lead AQP Engineers in the execution of the APQP process at Rochester Hills, MI and Lincoln, NE) for a global electronics solutions manufacturer. This includes activities from the design and development stages, through Manufacturing Engineering, volume ramp, and Safe-Launch of new products and processes.
  • Work as a representative of the external customer and the internal manufacturing facilities by developing and executing all new or modified product and process projects under the guidelines of the APQP process. Define and champion customer needs and expectations through the design and development process.
  • Coordinate the activities of the AQP Engineering teams in order to meet the aggressive timelines demanded by the market and key customers, and to ensure the external and internal customers' requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Execute all APQP and Launch activities that support project plans to allow for equipment and tooling builds and modifications to produce a quality product that will meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Work with Product Development Teams (Design engineers, process / tooling engineers, project managers, product managers, and prototype / plant operators) to support sample submission, prototype, and initial launch parts delivery on time.
  • Support the continuous improvement & standardization of the APQP program and Product Development processes in the business unit.
  • Maintain program documentation as required in the support of Product PPAP.
  • Act as Team Leader and participate in team activities as required for the successful execution of required action plans for the launch of assigned programs.
  • Participate in and present information/data as required at customer-initiated meetings, during management reviews, and Phase Gate Reviews.
  • Maintain an up-to-date open project & issues tracking report. Identify all action items requiring completion to successfully meet deadlines and assign follow-up responsibilities.
  • Supervisor responsibilities for direct reports: Ability to hire promotable talent, organize regular mtgs, assure training needs of the team are regularly assessed and training plans developed.
  • Participate in the training of production team members during start-up phases as required.
  • Track and chart APQP Key Performance Indicators (KPI) as applicable to the NPI process.
  • Understand, support and contribute to corporate global programs including Principled Based Management (PBM), Global Lean/Six Sigma (GLSS), Quality System (IATF-16949), International Standards Organization (ISO), and Environmental, and Health & Safety (EH&S) Management Systems.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, business or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in a APQP Role in a design center or manufacturing operation
  • 4+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Core Tools, including experience in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA and SPC
  • Experience with problem-solving methodologies and techniques with the ability to lead technical teams into root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Strong knowledge of Product and Process Qualification Plans, DVP&R and product environmental testing, and process qualifications in preparation for production launch approval
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and technical drawing reading
  • Expert level knowledge of the necessary steps to ensure the quality integrity of new products and process being launched in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Excellent business communication skills with cross-functional employees
  • Working knowledge of MS Office tools (Teams, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's Degree in engineering or business
  • 3 additional years of experience in a connector or electronics production facility
  • 8+ years in an IATF-16949 or VDA 6.3 registered organization
  • Strong knowledge of Measurement Systems and Metrology Equipment, including but not limited to CMM, OGP, CT scans, FAI reports
  • Expert level knowledge of the necessary steps to ensure the quality integrity of new products and process being launched in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a high volume (50+ NPI projects annually) design center
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish
