Project Manager - Pharma Advertising Agency

Spectraforce Technologies
United States, California, Nuevo
Sep 03, 2026
Job Title: Digital Project Manager - Interactive & Video (Agency)

Location: Remote (US-wide) or Hybrid Onsite (Irvine, CA)

Work Schedule: West Coast Hours (e.g., ~9:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST / ~12:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST)

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Possible extension based on business need)

Work Model & Hours Disclosure:

This is an hourly, project-based contractor role where a flat 40-hour work week is not guaranteed.

  • Once fully ramped, workload typically averages around 40 hours per week, but will fluctuate depending on production cycles, vendor sprints, and regulatory review windows.
  • Lighter weeks may scale to 20-25 hours, while intensive launch periods demand 35-40+ hours.
  • Total flexibility regarding fluctuating workload is required.

Ideal Candidate Profile Summary:

  • Must-Have Attributes
  • True technical PM leadership (understands build dependencies)
  • Proven external creative/digital agency background
  • Deep familiarity with web builds, ISAs, and video post-production
  • Full availability to work West Coast business hours

Automatic Disqualifiers:

  • Pure "Traffic Coordinator" or routing-only background
  • Pure client-side/in-house corporate marketing backgrounds
  • Candidates who cannot identify the difference between front-end and back-end change impacts
  • Inflexibility regarding fluctuating contractor workloads (20-40 hrs/wk)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a true Digital Project Manager with extensive external creative/advertising agency experience to lead end-to-end digital and video asset delivery. This is not an administrative traffic coordinator, account handling, or content creation role.

The ideal candidate acts as the central technical-to-creative project lead. You will not write code or edit footage yourself, but you must possess sufficient technical acumen to understand technical architecture discussions, proactively diagnose scope/timeline implications, foresee development blockers, and direct multi-disciplinary production teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital & Video Lifecycle Management: Lead end-to-end delivery of complex digital assets including responsive websites, Interactive Sales Aids (ISAs for iPad/Veeva), web applications, rich media banner ads, dynamic emails, motion graphics, and video production (from storyboarding and shoots through editing and post-production).
  • Technical Scope & Impact Assessment: Evaluate incoming change requests to determine structural project impacts. Identify whether updates require front-end vs. back-end engineering, database adjustments, copy/design loop-backs, or third-party vendor coordination, and adjust budgets and timelines accordingly.
  • Review Packaging & Readiness: Partner with Account Services to package, QA, verify, and route compliant assets for Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) reviews. (Note: Account Services executes final submission; the PM ensures complete, error-free packaging and readiness).
  • Workflow & Asset Routing: Orchestrate workflows across tools like Workfront and ProofHQ, managing internal routing across Creative, UX/UI, Editorial, Copy, and Engineering teams.
  • Vendor & Developer Oversight: Act as the direct operational point of contact for external development shops, engineering teams, and post-production studios. Run standups, track sprint deliverables, and resolve blockers.
  • Risk Mitigation & Project Rigor: Develop critical-path timelines, work breakdown structures (WBS), contingency plans, and dependency logs to manage scope creep proactively.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • External Agency Pedigree: Minimum 5 years of hands-on project management experience inside an external advertising, marketing, or digital agency (e.g., Digitas, Saatchi & Saatchi, Accenture Song, or comparable healthcare/commercial agency ecosystems). Solely internal marketing or client-side PM experience will not qualify.
  • Digital Depth: At least 4-5 years dedicated specifically to digital, interactive, and video asset delivery. Print-only or brand-strategy experience is insufficient.
  • Technical Fluency: Solid conceptual understanding of web/interactive architecture (HTML, CSS, CMS platforms, APIs, database calls, responsive design principles, and digital QA/testing procedures) to ask probing questions of developers and accurately scope effort.
  • Video Production Literacy: Working knowledge of video and motion workflows, including phases of pre-production, live-action shoots, animation pipelines, rough cuts, color grading, and final sound mixing.
  • Regulated Industry / Pharma Background (Preferred): Prior experience navigating MLR review cycles, Veeva Vault PromoMats, and pharmaceutical validation guidelines is a major plus, though candidates with strong technical agency fundamentals can be trained on specific submission protocols.
  • Agency Stability: Demonstrated record of consistent project delivery and tenure within fast-paced creative environments.
