The Opportunity with McKinstry

The Senior Construction Technology Specialist is a hybrid role that combines BIM/VDC expertise, electrical detailing support, and fabrication-focused construction technology. This individual will support project teams through BIM coordination, model management, clash detection, and VDC execution while partnering closely with Electrical Detailing Leads on electrical modeling, drafting, and fabrication-ready deliverables.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong, self-directed professional who enjoys solving complex coordination challenges and helping drive construction technology best practices across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute BIM coordination and VDC technology work on assigned projects, including multi-trade coordination, clash detection and resolution, model management, and platform support across the project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout.

  • Support Electrical Detailing Leads with electrical BIM modeling and drafting tasks, including the creation and management of electrical trade models, coordination of electrical systems within multi-trade environments, and alignment with fabrication-ready detailing standards.

  • Assist in electrical fabrication workflow coordination by ensuring model outputs align with fabrication shop requirements, supporting spool sheet development, and coordinating with Electrical Detailing Leads and the fabrication team to maintain production-ready deliverables.

  • Contribute to the development and adherence of McKinstry's BIM execution standards, content management practices, and platform configurations, supporting the consistency and quality of VDC technology work across projects.

  • Participate in client, General Contractor, and preconstruction engagements as needed, supporting coordination reviews and contributing to project pursuits where VDC technology expertise is required.
