Position Summary:



Yeshiva University seeks a licensed individual for a Multi-Trade Mechanic position. The Multi-Trade Mechanic, X, performs general construction and maintenance projects. This person must be able to work in multiple locations within the NYC metro area and be able to accommodate varying work shifts.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Thursday 8:00 am - 1:30 pm



Position Responsibilities:



Carpentry



  • Install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, including partitions, furniture, equipment, and other woodwork.
  • Install wallboard, floor and ceiling tile, linoleum, ceramic tile, and carpeting using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
  • Install doors and door hardware.
  • Repair window frames and sashes, replace broken window glass, and install or repair window shades, blinds, and rods.
  • Fabricate and install shelves, countertops, cabinets, and suspended ceilings.


Electrical & Plumbing



  • Perform minor electrical repairs.
  • Replace switches, electrical outlets, and light fixtures.
  • Replace sinks and faucets.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs as needed.


Painting



  • Prepare surfaces and work areas for painting.
  • Frame walls, tape, plaster, and apply skim coat as needed.
  • Paint buildings and other structures using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.


Masonry



  • Mix and pour concrete.
  • Lay brick, cement block, and ceramic tile.
  • Apply grout and point brickwork.
  • Apply caulking compounds to seal cracks in walls and joints.
  • Perform soldering as needed.


General Maintenance



  • Erect scaffolding and set up ladders safely.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



Experience & Educational Background:




  • High School Diploma and 5 years of experience in one or more building trades is required.
  • Must possess at least one trade license (electrical, plumbing, or equivalent)
  • Valid state driver's license is preferred



Skills & Competencies:




  • Must possess the strength and dexterity needed to perform the job and the physical ability to move equipment as necessary. Must possess a working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the University.
  • Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively. May be required to work from blueprints.
  • Must be able to work in multiple locations within the NYC metro area and be able to accommodate varying work shifts.
  • Respirator Fit Testing may be required.



Salary Range:



Grade 10

1199 New Hire rate: $34.55 and 1199 One Year of Service rate: $35.25
