Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $105,940 - $140,375.8. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as an Application Manager!

The Sales Organization is responsible for selling S&C products, services and solutions across a broad customer base from customer-owned and investor-owned electric utilities, commercial & industrial (C&I) customers, government agencies, distributors, contractors, consultants, and original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The sales organization's objectives include generating revenue, expanding market share and driving business growth.

The Application Manager is responsible for providing pre-sales support and expertise for the application and specification of S&C products on customer systems. The Application Manager will build a detailed understanding of the customer's challenges and goals to help in identifying standard product solutions that position SYC favorably in support of the order entry goals of a defined geographic region. Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the Application Manager supports technical activities during the early stages of the sales cycle. Activities include application support, delivering technical presentations, representing the Company at Industry events, and providing to technical inquiries that contribute to the conversion of opportunities into sales.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a pre-sales technical resource for the regional sales team, offering advanced knowledge of S&C products and services and responding to technical inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Partner with the regional sales team to continuously seek out information about customer challenges and pain points in support of addressing customer needs and converting opportunities into sales.
  • Respond to technical inquiries for standard products, conveying accurate information that supports the customer's needs.
  • Recommend and advise on the viability of sales opportunities leveraging knowledge of S&C's standard product range.
  • Ask effective questions to clarify customer challenges, goals and outcomes and match S&C standard products and solutions with customer specifications, identifying all exceptions, clarifications and deviations for requests for information (RFI's) and requests for quotes (RFQs)
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering and other departments to provide timely and meaningful responses to customer queries on S&C's standard product range.
  • Attend customer meetings as a technical resource, creating and presenting presentations, insights and solutions and addressing questions to progress opportunities forward.
  • Prepare straightforward proposals and technical information for tender submissions.
  • Guide product trial proposals, scoping trial agreements, tracking trial data and presenting the results back to the customer in support of system-side deployment and sales conversion.
  • Support new product introduction with the regional sales team and develop plans for the successful rollout of new products to customers within the region.
  • Brief and provide ongoing technical support to Power System Solutions (PSS) concerning applications and customer requirements upon completion of the sales to inform the project management process for the installation and commissioning phase.
  • Represent S&C at the industry events (tradeshows, expos, conferences, lunch and learns, presentations and forums etc. and support promotional activities through submitting and presenting papers and demonstrating products at the S&C booth or Customer Experience Center (CEC).
  • Conduct factory tours and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to guarantee total customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver product overview and insight pitches to customers and internal stakeholders on new products and applications in support of generating new opportunities and business.
  • Conduct and report on customer and market analysis data obtained throughout the applications support process and submit product development ideas and new solutions and applications through applicable channels.
  • Entertain customers during and outside of business hours, as appropriate, to establish customer relationships necessary to sell S&C's products and services effectively.
  • Travel regularly (flying and driving up to 80%) in support of sales and applications activities, customer engagement, industry events and provide off-hours business support.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Valid driver's license in good standing and clean driving record.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree.
  • Typically five years of experience in the electrical power industry or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and demonstrated success in sales and application within the electrical power systems industry.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage products, familiarity with industry-recognized electrical codes & standards and ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring schematics and specifications.
  • Solid business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to translate technical information into solution, insights and proposals.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to break down and diagnose problems, analyze diverse information, seek input from others, and identify and present solutions to the customers' problem.
  • Excellent communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) effective in opening channels of communication, listening to customers' needs, and cultivating a healthy, productive and ongoing dialogue.
  • Technically sound and concise in communication how solutions meet the needs of each unique customer, and able to successfully present to a variety of audiences, both small face-to face interactions through large conferences and formal presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills, coordinating internal and external resources and juggling several projects and tasks according to priority.
  • Strong industry knowledge of market trends and competitive landscape, with an ability to assess and consider these factors when supporting sales activities.
  • The ability to travel as required

Preferred:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the applicable states of the assigned region.
  • Demonstrated experience in CRM systems (Salesforce desirable) maintaining and leveraging data for reporting purposes
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Oracle and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
