Responsibilities

The Geotechnical Field Services Manager is responsible for leading and managing field operations across multiple geotechnical teams to ensure efficient execution of subsurface investigations, field testing, and related services. This role oversees staffing, scheduling, quality, and safety of field
operations while supporting project delivery and operational performance. The Geotechnical Field Services Manager serves as a key operational leader, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and reliability in field execution while supporting the development of Team Leaders and staff and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise Geotechnical Team Leaders, field personnel, and support staff
  • Manage day-to-day operations of geotechnical field services across multiple teams
  • Coordinate project assignments, staffing, and workload distribution across teams
  • Ensure projects are staffed appropriately and delivered on schedule and within expectations
  • Oversee and support subsurface investigation planning and field execution
  • Provide operational and technical guidance to Team Leaders and field staff
  • Ensure consistency in field practices, procedures, and reporting standards across teams
  • Communicate with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to support project execution
  • Monitor field data collection and reporting to ensure quality and compliance with company standards
  • Support resolution of field-related issues, including staffing, scheduling, and technical challenges
  • Maintain organization and efficiency across field operations and team workflows
  • Support proposal preparation, resource planning, and operational coordination
  • Participate in project meetings and support field-related coordination efforts
  • Perform field oversight, investigations, or technical support as needed
  • Perform additional operational, technical, and leadership duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4 years of related experience
  • High school diploma or GED required
    • Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, Materials Science Engineering, Geology, or related field is preferred
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) is preferred
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced leadership and decision-making capabilities
  • Very strong understanding of geotechnical principles and standards
  • Strong ability to evaluate engineering data and design recommendations
  • Very strong organizational and operational management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines
  • Strong understanding of consulting operations, scheduling, and workload prioritization
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic field devices, and data system
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and leadership
  • Ability to build and develop high-performing teams
  • Experience with project management, budgeting, and business development
  • Ability to coordinate field activities and staffing effectively
  • Must be able to occasionally lift a minimum of 85 pounds
  • Knowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plus

  • The following US Military ranks will qualify for this position IF they also meet the education, certification, and licenses requirements from the above section titled "Required Qualifications":
    • E-5

The expected pay range for this role and location is $90k - $110k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
