POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the origination of residential first mortgage loan products in an assigned geographical area. It is a sales job which strives to meet volume goals and provide superior levels of customer service.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Sources and originates first mortgage loans from realtors, the Wescom branch network, financial planners, investment advisors and other affinity relationships within the Wescom membership service area.

Full engagement with all referral sources, including but not limited to, the branch network and Member Contact Center, including timely responses to member and staff requests, providing detailed information and options with lending products, attending and engaging in branch and staff meetings when applicable by in-person or Zoom meetings providing updates and educating staff on programs, products and services, and participate in home lending seminars and presentations.

Assists borrowers with loan applications, credit qualifications, loan programs, pricing, previewing loan scenarios and overall, first mortgage consulting services.

Develops and maintains effective and productive relationships by promoting high levels of customer service and industry knowledge. Participates in outside business development activities, such as broker caravans, real estate presentations, lunch and learns. Works with MLS and/or industry associations, participates in Mortgage Lending outreach campaigns and makes outbound calls to business development targets for increased market share.

Achieves production volume goals while ensuring the highest level of file quality is maintained.

Mortgage Loan Officers must have a working knowledge of standard underwriting and qualifying criteria upon the origination of new loan applications, including understanding and following Desktop Underwriter (DU), investor and company guidelines and matrices, utilizing and understanding mortgage lending software applications and completing company checklists and requirements within the LOS system for complete and accurate loan applications.

Builds and maintains effective and productive relationships with operations staff and other internal departments and Wescom branch personnel. Stays updated on policies, procedures and products.

Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience required.

Previous financial industry and customer service experience preferred.

Two (2) or more years experience in real estate lending as a Loan Officer. Origination experience in FHA, FNMA, and VA.

High school degree is required. College degree in a related field (e.g., business, finance, accounting, marketing, etc.) is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

NMLS Mortgage Loan Originator License is required.

Requires knowledge of mortgage lending, including knowledge and experience with the mortgage loan origination process, including business development, loan structuring, processing, underwriting, pricing, documentation, compliance, web-based and in-person loan applications. Must have working knowledge of all mortgage loan product types, business development, and sales expertise.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable. Strong time management and organizational skills.

Ability to handle and address a high volume of phone calls, emails and other digital channel communication while maintaining a superior level of member service.

Organized, self-starter and team oriented.

Knowledge of all Federal and State laws and regulations and Secondary Market/Investor requirements and procedures.

Ability to travel via personal automobile and work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays and Sundays.

If working remotely from home, able to plan each day for optimum productivity with minimal supervision.

Effective human relations skills to maintain positive and productive working relationships with all departments.

Attends meetings with peers, participates in in-house training, self-studies, outside seminars and classes.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position.

Experience with LFC loan origination system, paperless working environment, and Desktop Underwriter.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position may qualify as Remote or Hybrid with a home base at one of Wescom's offices. The Remote or Hybrid status may be discontinued by Wescom in its sole discretion at any time and for any reason or no reason, with or without notice by Wescom or Employee.

Some travel and/or overnight travel may be needed to support the branch network or other business development needs.
