JOB SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of a Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) to assist with material handling, shipping, receiving and other activities. The list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may expand to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*Comply with company Safety Policies and Procedures
*Loads and unloads materials onto or from trucks by forklift as required.
*Loading and verification of outgoing shipments for accuracy and quality/quantity of part numbers
*Verify products picked match the shipping order
*Ensure items received are delivered and put away daily
*Ensure material storage areas and receiving area are kept clean from debris and trash
*Distribute requested items to production line in an accurate and timely fashion as needed
*Improve and maintain plant and outside yard 5S/Safety
*Manually handle product combining and sorting material from pallet to pallet
*Assist with yearly Physical Inventory
*Other projects as requested
*Regular attendance, timeliness and scheduling flexibility

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
*Sort, stage & load pallets and related material in a safe manner following Westlake Forklift Safe Operation guidelines and policies
*Assist in inventory management of pallets to ensure production operations continue without interruption
*Required to operate a sit-down forklift and/or electric pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner
*Able to effectively work within a diverse team environment and be productive while unsupervised
*Basic Computer skills
*Must be able to read and interpret documents such as shipping/receiving information
*Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form in English
*Some minor pallet repairs

* Bilingual English and Spanish preferred

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
*1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
*Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
*Withstand exposure to temperature extremes inside or out
*Prolong standing or in stationary position
*Complete repetitive movements
*Bend and/or twist
*Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
*Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
*Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
*Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
*Must be able to work split shift (to train off shifts on safety concerns and changes)

DESCRIPCION DEL TRABAJO

El Operador de montacargas es responsable de la operacion segura de un Vehiculo Industrial Motorizado (PIV) para asistir con la manipulacion, envio, recepcion de materiales y otras actividades. La lista de deberes y responsabilidades no es del todo inclusiva y podria expandirse para incluir otras responsabilidades y tareas segun la administracion estime conveniente.

FUNCIONES ESENCIALES:
*Cumplir con las politicas y procedimientos de la empresa
*Carga y descarga de materiales sobre o desde camiones mediante montacargas segun sea necesario
*Carga y verificacion de envios salientes para precision y calidad/cantidad de numeros de pieza
*Verificar productos seleccionados para igualar la orden de envio
*Garantizar que los articulos recibidos se envien y aparten a diario
*Garantizar que las areas de almacenamiento de material y el area de recepcion se mantengan limpias de residuos y desperdicios
*Distribuir los articulos solicitados a la linea de produccion de manera precisa y oportuna segun sea necesario
*Mejorar y mantener el indice de 5S/Seguridad de la planta y el patio exterior
*Manipular manualmente la combinacion de productos y clasificacion de materiales de paleta a paleta
*Asistir con el inventario fisico anual
*Otros proyectos segun se solicite
*Tener una asistencia regular, puntualidad y flexibilidad de horario

CONOCIMIENTO, DESTREZAS Y CAPACIDADES
*Clasificar, organizar y cargar paletas y material asociado de manera segura siguiendo las pautas y politicas de Operacion Segura de Montacargas de Westlake
*Asistir en la gestion de inventario de paletas para garantizar que las operaciones de produccion sigan sin interrupcion
*Debe operar una carretilla con asiento y/o gato electrico de manera segura y eficiente
*Capacidad de trabajar de manera efectiva dentro de un entorno de equipo diverso y ser productivo al estar sin supervision
*Habilidades informaticas basicas
*Debe tener la capacidad para leer e interpretar documentos tales como la informacion de envio/recepcion
*Capacidad de interpretar una variedad de instrucciones facilitadas en formato escrito, oral, de diagrama o programa de Ingles
*Algunas reparaciones menores en paletas

*Bilingue ingles y espanol preferido

EDUCACION Y/O EXPERIENCIA
El empleado debe tener lo siguiente:
*1-2 Anos de experiencia relevante

REQUERIMIENTOS FISICOS FUNDAMENTALES/AMBIENTE DE TRABAJO
El empleado debe poseer la capacidad de:
*Exponerse a sonidos o niveles de ruido que podrian ser incomodos
*Resistir temperaturas extremas internas y externas
*Mantener una posicion estacionaria o permanecer de pie
*Completar movimientos repetitivos
*Inclinarse y/o girarse
*Levantar/mover/transportar articulos de hasta 50 libras
*Capacidad para mover o desplazarse por las instalaciones
*Capacidad para trabajar alrededor de polvo, quimicos y otras sustancias, y en diversas condiciones ambientales
*Usar todo el equipo de proteccion personal (proteccion de audicion, vista y casco)
*Debe ser capaz de trabajar en turno dividido (de capacitarse fuera del turno en problemas de seguridad y cambios)
*Claridad de audicion y habla
