Summary

As a Recruiter at NYPA, you will help candidates understand the impact they can have on New York's energy future by connecting them to opportunities that reflect both their skills and their aspirations. Drawing on insights from what NYPA employees say brought them here and what keeps them here, you will help ensure our recruitment storytelling feels real, relevant, and consistent across every touchpoint.


This role supports NYPA Operations, requiring strong technical recruiting experience to identify and engage talent across engineering and essential operational functions. You'll partner closely with leaders and HR colleagues to deliver a thoughtful, inclusive, and seamless hiring experience, one that reflects the organization's commitment to meaningful work, collaboration, and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle: sourcing, screening, interviewing, selecting, negotiating offers, reviewing backgrounds, and onboarding candidates.
  • Establish relationships with hiring teams to understand their needs, and team culture, and share best practices of the hiring process to ensure a positive experience.
  • Leverage sourcing techniques and candidate outreach to ensure a diverse slate of underrepresented populations.
  • Review recruitment data to make informed decisions on hiring strategies.
  • Consult and collaborate with internal teams on best practices for logistics, benefits, systems, and additional areas to ensure a positive hiring experience.
  • Document processes, maintain records, and update candidate status in Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for record compliance and data accuracy.
  • Represent NYPA at conferences, career fairs, and other recruitment events, across numerous markets and professional communities.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate laws, regulations, employee policies, and procedures related to talent acquisition.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to build relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders across all levels and business units.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and problem-solve multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to learn and research new information for hiring teams.
  • Exhibit discretion, judgment, and professionalism around confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, and operate in ambiguity.
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking System (ATS), social media networks, and MS Office with an ability to learn new systems and technologies.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years' recruiting experience preferredwith HS Diploma or
  • Minimum 2 years recruiting experience preferredwith a Bachelors degree
  • In-house recruiting experience in a corporate setting preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel primarily within NY State
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $78,000 - $106,700. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
