Wattsburg Area School District is looking for a Long-Term Substitute Science Teacher anticipated August 20 through October 16, 2026. The ideal candidate will be certified in Biology. Individuals with a bachelors degree in a related field are eligible and will be considered. This is a temporary full time substitute position assigned to a regular daily teaching schedule and course load. Shift: Full time, regular school schedule Salary Range: Minimum of $52,263 based on degree(s), prorated. Benefits: Full employer paid medical while employed as a Long-Term Substitute.
Qualifications: Valid Biology (Instructional Area Code 8405) certification preferred. Other science certifications or bachelors degree in a science related field will be considered. Strong organizational skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Self-motivated and adept at problem solving and critical thinking. Ability to work as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities: Teaches assigned students/classes the approved curriculum. Engages students actively and meaningfully through lesson design, instruction, and assessment. Identifies and implements appropriate instructional practices and methods to meet students varying ability levels. Uses an appropriate variety and number of assessments to determine student academic progress. Provides written feedback to students on assessed material on a regular basis. Implements the IEP requirements of special needs students. Establishes communication with parents through a variety of means to inform them of academic and behavioral progress and achievement. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Maintains confidentiality with student information.
