Director, Certification Safety & Regulatory Affairsin GAC Savannah

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Safety, Airworthiness or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 15+ years related experience managing certification activities, leading teams to solve complex issues, and coordinating with regulatory authorities to include 5 years of management/supervisory experience. Position Purpose: The Gulfstream Certification, Safety and Regulatory Affairs organization represents Gulfstream in matters of product certification, international validation, issue resolution and escalation of complex compliance and safety matters under the purview of Innovation, Engineering and Flight (IEF). The organization also oversees and advances Safety Management activities to include Continued Operational Safety functions, SMS Part 5 compliance activities, coordinates with industry to advance regulation and policy, and works to streamline associated processes. This position has the responsibilities, accountability and authority for the successful execution of these activities.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Interface with Engineering, the ODA, and regulatory and investigative authorities to negotiate matters of compliance or potential safety issues while maintaining their trust and confidence in Gulfstream .
  2. In coordination with Engineering and ODA, develop certification planning documentation, compliance checklists and associated compliance documentation for domestic and international airworthiness and operational requirements .
  3. Provide tactical and strategic guidance in matters relating to type certification and continued airworthiness, champion strategies and initiatives to improve and/or streamline related processes and procedures, and work to remove barriers that inhibit successful execution of certification and continued operational safety activities .
  4. Coordinate with industry and government representatives to address regulatory issues, influence future policy and guidance, and ensure a level playing field for Gulfstream .
  5. Oversee and facilitate safety management system compliance and advance safety culture within IEF .
  6. Interface with Gulfstream leadership to provide insights, recommendations and status on issues and initiatives .
  7. Establish budgetary, resource and organizational requirements for mission execution .
  8. Succession planning and employee development .
