Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world's largest online services.

The CO+I Commissioning team is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of new data center capacity for CO+I. Through development of leading program management and construction processes, this team is chartered with managing workflow across vertically and horizontally aligned project managers and virtual teams to successfully deliver multi-million-dollar, multi-year data center construction programs.

As aLease Commissioning Manager (LCxM), you will work with datacenterarchitects, engineers, construction managers, network engineers, datacenteroperationsteamsand finance teams to streamline and improve datacentercapacity delivery. You willexecute againstscope, schedule, and budget to deliver the latest generation of datacentertechnology to Microsoft's Online Services.   • Reports to the CO+I Regional Commissioning Director - AMERSLeases
  • Primary responsibility forAbilene, TXregion commissioning projects with secondary responsibility for other CO+Icommissioningprojects for Americas.
  • Create and/ormaintainbest practices toidentifyand incorporate quality and cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage the contracted Commissioning Agent assigned to DataCenterconstruction projects in theAbilene, TXregion.
  • Develop,maintain, and enforce commissioning best practices across lease projects.
  • Review and approve Lease Statements of Qualification (SoQs).
  • Construction site inspections to review QA/QC and commissioning process.
  • Drive the project Commissioning process including scope and schedule.

  • Regularly reviews Construction Progress, QA/QC, Commissioning progress, issues, and KPI metrics to report to management.
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendor project managers including integration oflessons-learned.
  • Manage client representatives and partners to define andalign onscope, schedule, and budget.
  • Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, andreportas necessary.
  • Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or asrequired.
  • Accountability
  • Responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule of the Commissioning Process for CO+I Projects.
  • Manage the Commissioning process forAbilene, TXregionLeaseProjects.
  • Reporting of the Commissioning process to management on a regular basis.
  • Work independently in support of the CO+I Program.
  • Strategy and Development
  • Manage data center commissioning project delivery strategy in alignment with the CO+I road map strategy.
  • Refines practices/policies and develops methods/techniques for driving solutions including development of commissioning procedures.
  • Provides input tolong-term delivery strategy and incorporates requirements into the project execution plans.
  • Vendor Management and contract compliance
  • Provideinput tointernal stakeholderson vendor oversight andcommissioningperformance management.
  • Preparation ofSOQ's andother project approval tools & templates.
  • Ensureadherence tocommissioning exhibit and other contractual requirements within Lease Agreements.
  • Relocation required toAbilene, TX.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR 12+ years relevant technical engineering experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • 10+ years relevant technical engineering experience
  • Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 9+ years technical engineering experience.
  • 5+yearsexperienceworking on data center projects
  • Project Management
  • Construction Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
  • Able to develop and write detailed Commissioning Scripts
  • Issue identification and resolution management
  • Industry recognizedCommissioning Certification
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent qualification
  • NFPA-70E
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Proficiencywith MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel,Powerpoint), MS Visio, MS Project, MS Teams

Reliability Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800.00 - $234,700.00 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200.00 - $261,000.00 per year.
