Welcome to Parker Industrial Process Filtration

At Parker's Industrial Process Filtration Division, we collaborate with our customers to offer filtration solutions for complex contaminant management issues. Our aim is to enhance product quality and safeguard critical equipment against maintenance issues and downtime.

The Industrial Process Filtration Division directly supports North America. In addition, IPF works with our global Parker Hannifin regional entities to leverage IPF products across the globe.

Position Summary

To direct and coordinate testing operations of the Lab Services Department in support of Element performance, engineering, design, product development and fabrication; and to ensure that established processes, procedures and scientific methods are followed to accurately, expeditiously and efficiently aid in the consistent and relevant testing of IPF Division's and it's competitor's filter element products.

Responsibilities

The duties include all those associated with the subordinate positions, plus the following:

* Supervise the Lab Services Department by managing and overseeing the, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for all testing of IPF Division's and the company's competitor's filter element products, to includes QA testing requirements.

* Train and motivate personnel to maintain a high level of accuracy and timeliness on testing and reporting activities.

* Conduct and oversee the accurate operation and maintenance of analytical equipment.

* Conduct and oversee filtration testing on flat sheet filter media.

* Oversee evaluation of customer liquid samples for contaminant identification, quantity and particle distribution.

* Oversee analysis of customer samples and used elements.

* Research and report findings on special projects, as requested.

* Keep laboratory testing records and formulate summary test reports.

* Coordinate with outside and inside sales and customer service personnel regarding performance testing information.

* Interface with R&D, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing and attend meetings, as needed, to monitor upcoming and progress on pending laboratory projects.

* Manage the administrative tasks associated with the Lab Services Department, such as, weekly and monthly lab activity reports and logs.

* Oversee the design and rebuild of lab test skids, as required.

* Conduct Lab tours and training of Sales staff, as needed.

* Conduct timely and effective employee evaluation and mentoring programs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for supervising non-exempt hourly employees.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications required include, but may not be limited to, the following:

* At least 5 years' experience in an industrial manufacturing/engineering laboratory environment.

* Intermediate-level skill with Microsoft Office software.

* Supervisory, manufacturing, quality control and fabrication plant and lab safety experience.

* Experience using analytical equipment, such as, particle laser counters, viscometers, ph meters, moisture percentage analyzers and etc.

* Ability to supervise and maintain a team-oriented environment.

* Ability to teach, train, assess, counsel and mentor others.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

* Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.

* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related lab sciences field.

* Related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, non-controlled temperature environments, moderate to high noise levels and harmful light emitted by welding machinery and flying metal particles, only, if and when, the employee is in the shipping or shop areas. The duties of this job are primarily performed in climate-controlled temperature laboratory environments, with low to moderate noise levels and fluorescent, incandescent and/or natural lighting.

* Immediately report all safety issues including injuries, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, and near miss situations.

* Review PPE Hazard Assessment Certification Form for safety requirements.
