New Hanover County's Tax department is seeking a motivated Property Records Technician to maintain and update property records, process address changes, review legal documents, assist with appraisal data maintenance, and respond to public inquiries. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the use of standard office equipment and computer software applications, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains real property records and processes address changes to ensure accurate and current information.
- Receives, screens, and directs telephones calls and assists citizens, property owners and internal staff with property and tax-related inquiries.
- Reviews deeds, affidavits, quit claims, estate files, survey plats, wills, and other legal documents to verify ownership, update property records and maintain sales histories.
- Processes applications and maintains records for all Property Tax Relief Program
- Enters, updates, and maintains appraisal and property data in computerized systems, including mass appraisal and property records systems.
- Performs data entry and records maintenance for subdivided parcels, new construction, existing parcels, and Board of Equalization and Review Appeals.
- Uses various software applications to research, verify, and update parcel and valuation information.
- Assists in resolving discrepancies in property records.
- Maintains records, scans documents, prepares correspondence, and supports office operations.
- Performs work with regular and predictable attendance consistently meeting the scheduling needs as required by the county.
- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.

Full-time, non-exempt
Salary Information: The hiring range for this position is $36,325.00 $49,038.00 annually plus a competitive benefits package.
Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications
-
High School diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year of clerical, data entry, administrative support, records management or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the specific position as listed above.
