OPERATOR SUMMARY

This is a Production Operator position in a factory specializing in the manufacturing of fused quartz products sold to customers in the semiconductor industries. The Willoughby factory is a union shop environment. This position will report directly to the Operations Manager of the assigned department. After you have completed training on day shift, you will be assigned to a shift depending on the needs of the business. Applicants must be willing work to any shift including on a continuous (24/7 operation) schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and process material and unload finished product.
  • Set up, operate and perform routine maintenance on associated quartz powder, or quartz fusion equipment.
  • Processes finished quartz powder from quartz crystals through a series of repetitive progressive operations.
  • Operate, monitor and maintain continuous melting, fusion, and baking quartz furnaces.
  • Meet production schedules and program production sequences for optimal productivity.
  • Record quality data and maintain inventory consumptions and additives; keep accurate production and quality records.
  • Follow standard operating procedures or manufacturing production instructions (MPI) and specifications or instructions of higher-level technical personnel and monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
  • Perform quality sampling and inspections of material as required. Segregate product as instructed.
  • Operate material handling equipment and be able to obtain tow motor certification within 90 days of start date.
  • Escalate and support revision when job safety or process instructions need to be updated, when necessary.
  • Participate in 5S and problem-solving events as it relates and required.
  • Review and document accurate inventory amounts, or cycle counts of applicable areas as required.
  • Assist in repairs as necessary.
  • Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices and consistently work in a safe manner regarding self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems.
  • Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for each activity as required. Look out for team members to follow safety protocols and watch over team members to keep everyone safe.
  • Escalate any hazards upon knowledge.
  • Follow all attendance and mutual respect policies, and document work time correctly an accurately for self.
  • Keep accurate production and quality records.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Train and assist others
  • Do other work, as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Skills and knowledge test is required during interview process
  • Able to lift & carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to push and pull 500 to 1500 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, squat, kneel and climb.
  • Must be able to reach at, below, or able shoulder level.
  • You will regard safety as a core value; serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
  • You will need to have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / education team in a timely manner.
  • Willing and able to work with flexible schedule, which includes all shifts and weekends

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of Manufacturing Experience
  • Demonstrated effective communication to others, influencing skills, and decision-making ability.
  • Skilled in utilization of Microsoft Office, SAP, or other similar computer skills

Our Production Operator will earn an industry-leading hourly wage with eligibility for overtime pay when applicable.
