Temple University's Center for Performing & Cinematic Arts are searching for a Part Time Registration Program Assistant.

Salary Grade: T23

Position Summary:

The part-time Registration/Community Music Scholars Program Assistant will function as a contact for prospective students and interact with faculty and student/parents of minor students and coordinate with the Music Preparatory Registrar to ensure smooth assignment and enrollment in Music Preparatory Division workshop classes.

This position will assist the Music Preparatory Registrar with computer records (student data, class and mailing lists, scholarships) via Temple University Noncredit Management System (Destiny One/LLEE) for approximately 800 enrollments for academic year (September through June) and a six-eight week summer session. Helps guide registration, billing, and tuition payments; share information with the public regarding program and faculty inquiries. Assists individual lesson placement, monitors class enrollment, help to oversee music preparatory student workers as placed within offices and monitor class and private lesson schedules for a 50-70-member part-time faculty. Works with the Music Preparatory Registrar to consider the development and implementation of innovative music programs and needed materials and may assist in various presentations of public music performances as needed. Assists in the delivery of the Community Music Scholars Program/ Philadelphia String Project/BrassWind Project/Next Generation Choir at Temple University as community engagement of the Boyer College of Music and Dance. This program provides service, by way of instrumental music instruction to children of the community, and firsthand teaching experience to students of the Boyer College. Supports the Registrar/CMSP coordinator in student/mentor assignments, tracking of community student accounts, helping calculate accurate credit/compensation for collegiate teaching interns, and contributing to the overall effectiveness and quality of the program. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in (Music/Music Education) and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to meet the demand for creative and diplomatic problem solving in relationship with students, parents, and faculty members.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with faculty, students, and parents.

  • Must be available to work during Saturday activity hours to staff Music Prep office, particularly as accessible to parents, students, and faculty.

Preferred

  • Experience in Community/Youth Arts education programming and administration.

  • Experience with Filemaker Pro database (legacy system in transition);
