Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Technician to support food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance in a high-paced airline catering environment. This role ensures that all products meet internal and external quality standards through daily monitoring, documentation, testing, and inspection of food production processes. The FSQ Technician may work closely with the FSQ Tech Lead, production teams, and regulatory bodies to maintain a safe and compliant food manufacturing operation.

Essential Functions:
* Review and maintain food safety and quality records according to food standards and protocol.
* Perform routine inspections of production processes, from raw material intake through preparation and final packaging, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
* Conduct daily floor observations, reporting non-conformances and verifying corrective actions are taken.
* Assist with inspection of raw materials and finished products to ensure quality specifications are met.
* Participate in weekly product and ingredient evaluations, including Chef Tables and weight checks.
* Conduct or assist with microbiological and sanitation testing, such as in-house ATP, Listeria spp., and coordinate external testing when needed.
* Support training of production staff on hygiene, sanitation, and FSQ protocols.
* Prepare for and assist with regulatory and customer audits, ensuring all required records and areas are audit ready.
* Collaborate with QA, Production, and Sanitation teams to uphold food safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Attend FSQ meetings and participate in ongoing quality and safety discussions.
* Maintain personal hygiene and follow all HACCP entry protocols, PPE requirements, and safety guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School Diploma or GED preferred.
* Previous experience as a FSQ tech or in food production is a plus.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
* Ability to communicate with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
* Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language with proficiency.
* Reliable attendance and punctuality.
* Able to work in refrigerated environments (cold rooms).
* Excellent time management and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This position is in a food manufacturing facility and involves working in areas that may be cold, hot, humid, or noisy. The environment includes exposure to strong food odors, allergens, and potentially working with equipment. Employees may need to follow strict sanitation and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Work may take place on wet or slippery surfaces. Schedules may include overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs.

Physical Demands
* Standing/Walking: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods (8-12 hours per shift), often on concrete or other hard surfaces.
* Lifting/Carrying: Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 lbs. (occasionally more with assistance or equipment).
* Repetitive Motions: Use of hands and arms for repetitive tasks such as packing, sorting, or operating machinery.
* Sensory Requirements: Must be able to evaluate food products, detect odors, and visually inspect food for quality and safety.
* Reaching/Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, stooping, and crouching throughout the shift.
* Manual Dexterity: Use of fine motor skills for tasks requiring precision and coordination, such as operating controls or using smaller tools.
* Visual Requirements: Ability to visually inspect products, labels, or equipment for quality and safety standards.
* Auditory Requirements: Ability to hear alarms, machine sounds, and verbal communication in a noisy environment.
* Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include but not be limited to hairnets, gloves, masks, and/or safety shoes, as required by food safety standards and warehouse protocol.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Standard hours and days of work may vary based on production schedules and operational needs, including flight schedules. Evening, weekends, and holiday work may be required, as well as occasional overtime.
