Your Job

Molex ADS is seeking a detail-oriented Metrology (Quality) Technician to own First Article Inspections (FAI), dimensional and electrical inspection, and calibration traceability for high-reliability connector and cable assemblies. This hands-on role ensures connector performance and customer compliance while supporting continuous improvement.

Schedule: Mon-Thu 7:00 AM-4:30 PM; Fri 7:00 AM-11:00 AM.

Our Team

You will join a quality/metrology team embedded within the connector manufacturing division that partners closely with engineering, production, and customer quality. The team focuses on high-reliability interconnects where traceability, inspection rigor, and fast root-cause resolution are essential to meeting aerospace and defense customer expectations.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and execute connector-specific First Article Inspections and compile AS9102-style and customer-specific FAI packages to demonstrate product readiness.
  • Define measurement strategies for connector geometries using GD&T, identifying critical-to-function features and ensuring inspection completeness.
  • Operate and program metrology equipment (CMMs, portable arms, vision systems) and manage inspection fixtures, gages, and test jigs to sustain measurement integrity.
  • Maintain calibration and traceability records in compliance with ISO 9001 / AS9100 and prepare for internal and external quality audits.
  • Use MSA/Gage R&R and SPC data to verify measurement system capability, monitor key characteristics, and drive corrective actions when trends indicate risk.
  • Coach and train production operators on inspection methods, gage use, IPC/WHMA-A-620 connector acceptance, and best practices to prevent FOD and contamination.
  • Support root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions for connector-specific failures, escalating critical issues to engineering or customers when needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inspection efficiency, test coverage, and product quality.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years hands-on inspection/metrology experience in connector, cable assembly, or precision interconnect manufacturing (or equivalent military experience).
  • Proficient using CMMs and inspection software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso, PolyWorks) or programmable portable arms.
  • Proficiently able to read and interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T to inspection planning.
  • Experience performing FAIs and preparing AS9102-style FAI packages.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate degree or certificate in metrology, manufacturing, inspection, electronics, or related technical field.
  • Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or IPC/WHMA-A-620 trainer/inspector.
  • Prior aerospace/defense connector inspection experience and familiarity with common connector specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience with SPC tools, MSA/Gage R&R execution, and statistical control charting.
  • Experience with ERP/eQMS systems, drawing revision control, and formal FAI submission workflows to customers.
