Position Purpose







This position provides patient care of a therapeutic technical nature, performing advanced therapeutic interventional endoscopy procedures that support and assist the work of the physician, RN and

Endoscopy Team for the good of the patient. Responsible for the care of instrumentation before, during,

and after endoscopy procedures. The Lead Technician is an expert resource for the endoscopy team for all aspects of procedural care, endoscope handling and reprocessing, and supply usage and stock. Serves as a preceptor and training resource for new staff.











Nature and Scope







The Lead Endoscopy Technician functions as an expert technical resource in the endoscopy unit. The incumbent is competent and independent in all aspects of the endoscopy unit. They have an in-depth knowledge of GI and assist the techs, nurses, and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient. They have completed competencies for all basic GI procedures as well as advanced procedures (when applicable at site) and are competent in all aspects of endoscope reprocessing. The Lead Technician also supports the area with duties that include but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment including gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes transportation of patients and equipment, auditing certain processes, stocking/maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. Exhibits a higher level of Collaboration with all members of the Renown Health Care team. Has a strong understanding of infection control in the GI setting. Assists with maintaining supplies and equipment under the direction of a manager/supervisor.

This position does provide patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Description



Education:



Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Documentation of Anatomy/Physiology class, microbiology class, and basic computer skills from an accredited institution is preferred.



Experience:



A minimum of 2+ years' experience in endoscopy or in a clinical setting, such as a GI clinic, sterile processing department, or operating room required.



License(s):



None



Certification(s):



Current CPR certification by AHA standards required upon hire.

All the following are required at time of hire:



  • Completion of Endoscopy Technician Skills & Equipment Checklist - with an average score of 3 or higher
  • SGNA Associates Program Certification
  • SGNA Advanced Associate - Certificate of Recognition
  • ASGE GI Tech Program - Certificate of Completion



Computer / Typing:



Must possess the computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
