Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Business Application / ERP Administrator to support our current Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains environment while playing a key role in the company's multi-year transition to SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP. This position serves as a bridge between current-state ERP operations and future-state business process and system modernization efforts. The role supports key business systems across finance, supply chain, inventory management, operations, IT, and external partner platforms, helping ensure the reliability, security, integrity, and compliance of ERP data and processes. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, IT teams, external vendors, consultants, and project implementation partners to translate functional business needs into stable, auditable, and well-controlled system solutions and SAP module capabilities. JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Maintain Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains security, including user access, permissions, audits, quotas, and security controls
- Support ERP modernization activities related to the company's migration from Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains to SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP
- Help maintain operational continuity in Great Plains while supporting the transition to the company's future ERP platform
- Participate in current-state and future-state business process reviews across finance, procurement, supply chain, inventory, order management, and related ERP functions
- Assist with ERP data readiness, master data cleanup, mapping, validation, reconciliation, migration support, testing, and cutover planning between Great Plains and SAP S/4HANA Cloud
- Partner with business stakeholders, IT teams, consultants, and project implementation partners to document requirements, understand SAP module capabilities, validate configurations, test business process alignment, processes, and support testing, and contribute to ERP transformation activities
- Apply sound judgment and knowledge of IT, accounting, audit, and data security standards to protect system integrity and support business workflow needs
- Create, maintain, and troubleshoot workflows, stored procedures, scheduled reports, and real-time reports
- Maintain SQL Server environments, including testing and applying patches, upgrades, and new releases in a timely manner
- Provide user support and training for business application systems
- Support the research, evaluation, beta testing, installation, upgrade, and adoption of system enhancements and third-party applications
- Perform and validate master data updates, including item attributes, tariff/HTS fields, credit limits, pricing data, and related business data
- Investigate and resolve data inconsistencies, system defects, reporting issues, and integration errors
- Support SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, and future reporting platforms, including updates, code changes, report publishing, validation, and user support
- Develop and maintain documentation for end-user processes and IT system management procedures
- Maintain database systems in accordance with industry standards for data integrity, data security, and compliance
- Observe user processes, respond to user needs, and proactively identify opportunities for system and process improvement
- Participate in company-wide business process reviews to support smoother operations, automation opportunities, and improved technology solutions
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may also be considered
- At least 7 years of experience administering, configuring, supporting, and analyzing Great Plains ERP systems
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains should include the following subject areas: finance, procurement, inventory, order management, reporting, integrations, security, workflows, or SQL-based support
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP ECC, or another SAP ERP platform is strongly preferred, particularly in areas such as functional support, business process support, SAP module capability analysis design, data migration support, testing, reporting, security, integrations, or post-go-live support
- Candidates with strong experience in either Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or SAP will be considered, provided they demonstrate the ability and willingness to learn the other platform and help bridge current-state ERP operations with the company's future ERP environment
- Strong experience with SQL, including T-SQL, data analysis, reporting, data validation, troubleshooting, or integration support
- Experience supporting business applications used in finance, procurement, materials management, supply chain, inventory, order management, or related business areas
- Experience creating, maintaining, or troubleshooting workflows, stored procedures, reports, integrations, master data processes, or other ERP-related data processes
- Experience participating in ERP modernization, system migration, data conversion, testing, cutover planning support, or business process transformation projects is strongly preferred
- Ability to investigate system issues, compare multiple courses of action, and recommend practical solutions that support business needs, system stability, data integrity, and operational continuity
- Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple departments, including business users, IT teams, external vendors, consultants, and project implementation partners
- Experience supporting Citrix environments, published database applications, SQL Server Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, Power BI, or similar reporting and application delivery platforms is preferred
- Strong documentation, communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to support legacy system operations while contributing to future-state technology transformation
This is a full-time, permanent employee position. While the role will work closely with external consultants and implementation partners during the SAP transformation program, Shimadzu is seeking an individual who will provide long-term operational ownership and support of the company's business applications. Consultants, contractors, and candidates seeking project-based engagements need not apply.
Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums. The starting salary range for this role is $115,000 to $125,000 annually, paid semi-monthly.
