Research Technician I

Massachusetts General Hospital
United States, Massachusetts, Boston
185 Cambridge Street (Show on map)
Apr 29, 2026
The Stanton Laboratory in the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic candidate to join our research group.
Our research group is developing technologies that can enable drug and gene delivery to the brain. The BBB has prevented multiple drugs-and especially gene therapies- from reaching the brain. A significant number of neurological diseases and psychiatric disorders have genetic causes, which could be corrected using modern gene editing technologies. However, these therapies can only be effective once they are delivered to the impacted cells in the brain, which has continued to prove to be a challenge. The candidate who will join this project will join a team working on a delivery system that can deliver genetic therapies to the brain, which could allow the treatment of many currently untreatable diseases of the brain.
In this project you would perform work in:
*Molecular biology techniques.
*Nanoparticle formulation and characterization.
*In vitro and in vivo assays for gene delivery.
Candidates from multiple backgrounds are invited to apply (minimum Bachelor's required):
*Biology
*Biological Engineering
*Biomedical Engineering
*Chemical Engineering
*Chemistry
*Materials Science/Engineering
*Molecular biology
*Neuroscience
*Psychology
*Pharmaceutical Sciences
*Related fields
*Prior research experience is preferred in biological assays (ELISA, flow cytometry, etc.), molecular biology (e.g., reactions such as PCR reactions, sequencing, gel assays, etc.), nanoparticle formulation and screening, nucleic acid delivery, in vitro/in vivo experiments, and/or data analysis.
(We do not expect the candidate to have experience in all these areas.)
