Job Summary

This role is responsible for leading safety and environmental projects across the company to aid in our continuous improvement efforts relating to environmental, health and safety. The primary responsibility of the role is to ensure assigned projects and initiatives are deployed effectively, and comply with relevant laws, regulations and SPX requirements. The Corporate EHS Program Manager plays a key technical role in identifying hazards, improving safety systems, supporting sustainable environmental practices, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. The position reports to the Corporate Director, EHS.

Principle Duties & Responsibilites

  • Project Management
    • Facilitate implementation of established corporate environmental, health and safety programs and initiatives.
    • Build partnerships and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to implement projects effectively.
    • Work closely with consultants and vendors, to ensure efficient project implementation.
    • Effectively communicate and track deadlines and schedules as required.
    • Work with internal and external stakeholders to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Management System
    • Provide business unit and facility level assistance in the implementation of EHS management systems.
    • Assist in supporting SPX EHS management system initiatives and objectives.
    • Provide guidance on SPX corporate EHS applications and resources (VelocityEHS, SharePoint, etc.)
    • Monitor metrics, prepare reports on KPI's and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
  • Policies and Programs
    • Provide input on existing SPX EHS standards, procedures, guidelines, and reference tools.
    • Provide business unit and facility-level technical assistance on corporate initiatives, regulatory trends/changes and EHS standards, practices and procedures.
    • Assist in developing and conducting training seminars, meetings and conferences.
    • Participate in the implementation of the corporate audit program (third-party and internal processes).
    • Provide guidance to sites in developing and implementing improvement plans.
  • Environmental Sustainability
    • Provide support in organizing and preparing an annual sustainability report.
    • Assist in facilitating environmental sustainability related metrics tracking.
    • Assist in driving established environmental sustainability projects and initiatives.
  • Acquisitions and Divestitures
    • Provide support in carrying out due diligence activities as directed.
    • Assist with activities to limit risk related to plant closures/plant moves/plant expansions, etc.
    • Provide support with onboarding and integration of newly acquired businesses and personnel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrate understanding of environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Experienced in addressing a wide range of EHS matters.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Demonstrate technical and regulatory project management experience
  • Must be able to make decisions using ethical reasoning and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and manage conflicts to satisfactory resolution.
  • Ability to influence operating management to implement Corporate EHS programs.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast paced and demanding.
  • Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
  • Exhibit a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy.
  • Work well under pressure with the ability to deliver on time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in EHS software applications, analyzing and reporting data, KPI's, etc.
  • Ability to travel > 25% to manufacturing facilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in EHS, engineering or related field with EHS management emphasis.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related position, preferably some experience in a corporate environment or managing multiple locations.
  • Experience with a wide range of EHS matters including those related to operational hazards and environmental aspects, impacts and sustainability projects in a manufacturing environment.
