Primary Duties

The Cincinnati Ethics Center is hiring undergraduate student workers from a range of academic disciplines to serve as interns for our Ethics and Dragons programming. The purpose of this programming is to develop moral reasoning skills in teens and tweens in the Greater Cincinnati community by playing and reflecting on actions taken during premade role-playing adventures. This program occurs for roughly 3 hours a week at each of the following Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library locations: Clifton, Deer Park, Westwood, Monfort Heights, West End, Anderson, Groesbeck, and Reading branches. The program runs 11 weeks from May 18th to August 16th, with no programming on the weeks of Memorial Day and Independence Day.


Job responsibilities include:



  • Assist in the development and execution of the Dungeons, Dragons, & Ethics related programming for the Greater Cincinnati Community. This could include:
  • Assist in the execution of Ethics and Dragons engagement programs and services.
  • Serve as a mentor/model player OR Dungeon Master to teens and tweens while playing Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Model appropriate social behaviors and encourage concern for others to cultivate development of interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
  • Develop appropriate boundaries and rules to create a safe environment for children.
  • Assist in the design and development of diverse pre-made character sheets for use during programming.
  • Attend and offer feedback on programming during weekly Ethics and Dragons planning meetings.
  • Other duties may be assigned based off necessity and interest.

Candidate Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience playing Dungeons & Dragons/other tabletop role playing games, board games with complicated rule systems, deck building games (Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Hearthstone). Please specify your experience in your cover letter.

Additional Information

Time Requirements:
Must be available for at least two of the following libraries/week this summer:



  • Clifton: Mondays, 4:30-7:30pm
  • Deer Park: Mondays, 2:00-5:00pm
  • Westwood: Tuesdays, 11:30-2:30pm
  • Monfort Heights: Tuesdays, 4:00-7:00pm
  • West End: Wednesdays, 4:30-7:30pm
  • Anderson: Wednesdays, 4:30-7:30pm
  • Reading: Thursdays, 3:00-6:00pm
  • Groesbeck: Thursdays, 1:30-4:30pm


Estimated Pay: $13/hr


Reporting: Ethics and Dragons Interns will report to Erin Barta, Program Coordinator for Educational Programs at the Cincinnati Ethics Center.


Term: Positions will begin in the Summer 2026 as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal for later semesters.


Eligibility: This is open to all undergraduate students who will be enrolled at UC this fall. All majors are welcome to apply (including STEM majors). We are seeking a diverse array of academic backgrounds and skill sets.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school.
  • Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term.
  • "Enrollment" shall include:

    • The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled.
    • The one "off" term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment.


  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
