Your Job

Molex's Copper Solutions Business Unit is expanding its Enterprise Solutions team and seeking a System Applications engineer who can bridge customer concepts with manufacturable, high performance interconnect solutions. In this position, you will engage directly with major hyperscale and networking customers to translate early stage system concepts into practical mechanical and interconnect architectures. You'll work from the system level viewpoint, creating solutions that integrate cable based, rack level, and chassis level architectures aligned with emerging industry trends.

What You Will Do

  • Act as the technical bridge between R&D and customers by designing and prototyping application-specific, innovative solutions; leading handson implementation and pilot deployments; delivering training and enablement; and capturing real-world application feedback to inform new product development from concept through production.
  • Communication and alignment with the other functional groups internal to Molex including Global Sales and Marketing, Product Development Engineering, Project Management, and manufacturing to ensure successful design transfers and lessons learned capture.
  • Work with customers to interpret early architectural concepts, white board sketches, and block diagrams, and translate them into feasible Molex system level solutions.
  • Develop system architectures that integrate Molex components across rack level, chassis level, and emerging cable based systems.
  • Account for electrical, thermal, and signal integrity constraints when proposing mechanical concepts.
  • Participate in customer meetings, internal reviews, and site visits requiring both in person and virtual collaboration.
  • Provide mechanical design concepts using CAD.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or related technical discipline.
  • Relevant engineering experience in system level, applications, product architecture, or hardware development in networking industry.
  • Experience directly interfacing with customers.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, signal integrity, and thermal design constraints.
  • Ability to visualize and design concepts from abstract customer inputs.
  • Experience in 2D/3D CAD design tools.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience in NX.
  • Experience in networking industry within hyperscalers, CMS, ODM, OEMs, or similar environments in electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with rack level and chassis level design and system integration.
  • Background with cable midplanes, backplanes, cable trays, and cable routing for high speed interconnect systems.

For this role, we anticipate paying $110,000 - $160,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
