Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is a key team member responsible for ensuring the upkeep, safety, and operational efficiency of the facility's infrastructure and equipment. This role encompasses a variety of skilled maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, equipment relocation, painting, and routine troubleshooting. The Maintenance Technician contributes significantly to creating a safe, clean, and functional environment for all employees and visitors.

Primary Duties

  • Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair tasks covering building structures, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems to ensure optimal facility operation.
  • Manage groundskeeping duties both inside and outside the facility, maintaining the property's aesthetic and functional integrity.
  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing issues such as replacing washers, faucets, seals, repairing leaks, and clearing clogged drains to maintain water system reliability.
  • Implement and uphold strict safety protocols in compliance with company policies and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Use appropriate mechanical and physical safeguards during all equipment repairs to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and safety checks to support compliance and operational tracking.
  • Collaborate closely with other team members and departments, contributing to a proactive maintenance culture and taking on related duties as needs arise.
  • Assist in coordinating with external vendors and contractors to facilitate repairs, upgrades, and installations when necessary.
  • Continuously assess facility needs and recommend improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and asset longevity.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, enabling transportation of equipment and materials as needed.
  • Completion of Lockout/Tagout safety training to ensure safe practices during equipment servicing and repairs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving diverse maintenance issues.
  • Comprehensive understanding of building maintenance materials, tools, and environmentally responsible disposal methods.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment, maintaining a flexible and solution-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy when interacting with vendors, contractors, colleagues, and management.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety standards and continuous improvement in workplace safety culture.
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently while managing time to meet deadlines and maintain facility standards.

Education / Experience

  • Proven working knowledge of maintenance techniques, materials, tools, and equipment relevant to facility upkeep and industrial maintenance.
  • Possession of a forklift license or demonstrable ability and willingness to obtain licensure to support material handling operations.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in an industrial maintenance setting, with evidence of hands-on experience performing a variety of repair and preventive tasks.
  • Formal technical education or certifications in a related field are advantageous but not mandatory if experience demonstrates competence.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development through training and certification to stay current with industry standards and technologies.
