Position Summary

The Dance program at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria is seeking applications to build a qualified part-time faculty pool for potential vacancies. Positions are available as needed for the upcoming academic year. Responsibilities and duties may include teaching one or more subjects in the Dance program, such as Dance Appreciation and Dance Techniques (Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, and Folk), as well as assisting students with choreography for creative projects, including Auditioning for Dancers, Dancing for the Camera, Intercollegiate Conditioning and Competition, Commercial Hip Hop, and Dance Team experience. Successful candidates will be able to provide evidence of sensitivity to, understanding of, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND to effectively provide instruction to community college students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or off-campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Master's in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theater with dance emphasis, OR
- Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in physical education, any life science, physiology, theater arts, kinesiology, humanities, performing arts, or music, OR
- Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements as defined above must also complete and attach an Equivalency Petition (Download PDF reader)(Download PDF reader) to be considered.
