Architectural Project Manager - Federal Studio

We're seeking a Project Manager with experience leading complex federal projects to support our growing Federal Market. The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing all activities on assigned projects. The PM serves as the primary advocate and point of contact for the client, ensuring successful delivery aligned with scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with client goals, federal requirements, and firm standards
  • Lead planning and execution of projects across all phases, including development and implementation of Project Strategic Plans
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, leading communication, meetings, and coordination with stakeholders, consultants, and internal teams
  • Manage project financial performance, including development and oversight of budgets, schedules, forecasts, and consultant agreements
  • Ensure adherence to firm QA/QC standards and project execution protocols, coordinating with technical leadership to maintain quality outcomes
  • Monitor project progress, staffing, and workload, proactively identifying risks and implementing solutions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget alignment

Leadership

  • Lead by example and model FSB Guiding Principles
  • Support delivery of high-quality work on time and within budget
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Coach and mentor staff in communication, problem solving, and initiative
  • Communicate performance or workload concerns to leadership to support accountability and resolution

Marketing and Business Development

  • Support proposal development, interviews, and marketing efforts
  • Prepare preliminary scopes, fees, and schedules in collaboration with leadership
  • Support negotiation of scope and fees with clients
  • Contribute to securing repeat work through strong client service

Project Role

  • Lead day-to-day project oversight, ensuring effective coordination between the client, project team, and internal leadership
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across all stakeholders, including leading project meetings and maintaining alignment on expectations and deliverables
  • Drive project planning efforts by coordinating task assignments, staffing, and deliverables in collaboration with the Project Team Leader
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and resolve project issues, including scope, schedule, and fee changes, supporting formal change management processes
  • Maintain accountability for project performance, ensuring deliverables meet established quality standards, timelines, and budget expectations
  • Build and sustain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle, supporting long-term partnerships and repeat work

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings, specifications, and scope documents
  • Experience managing project financial performance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or closely related field
  • Licensed Architect or Licensed Engineer required. PMP preferred.
  • Federal Project Management experience preferred
