To achieve this goal, theCHSE (Cloud Hardware Systems Engineering)team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery,scaleand sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. Responsibilities
  • Understand customer requirements and high-level architectural design, execute electrical design at board level and system level, responsible for detailed design specifications.

  • Collaborate with internaldesignteam(thermal, mechanical, firmware, OS) andexternal partner (ODM/OEM)for design implementation, ensure product functionality, performance,qualityand reliability.

  • Perform complete and deep design review, includingschematics,board files, BOM, DFT, DFM, etc.

  • Define boardlevelbring-up and electricaltestrequirements, ensure complete coverage,executeorguaranteeexecution.

  • Work with partner teams to createsystem levelbring-up andend-to-endvalidationtestplans,ensurecomplete coverage, guaranteeexecution.

  • Troubleshooting,issuetriage, leadinghardware related debug efforts with partner teams,driveresolutionand bugreports.

  • Architect and implement RTL (Register-Transfer Level) code for Programmable Logic Devices (PLDs), ensuring robust and scalable hardware logic aligned with system-level requirements.

  • Define and design computer boards and system-level solutions, including power and reset sequencing for high-performance platforms.

  • Develop, review, and deploy comprehensive testbenches and randomized verification environments to validate CPLD logic and ensure functional integrity across edge cases.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience
    • OR equivalent experience

Other Requirements:

  • Abilityto meet Microsoft,customerand/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS / MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years' experience designing board and system level server products
  • 5+ years'experience developingboardand system levelbring-up and test plans
  • 5+ years' experience debuggingboard and system level issuesfor Cloud Servers
  • 5+ years' experiencearchitecting, implementing, and validating RTL code for CPLD/FPGA system management
  • Fundamental knowledge of the followinghardwaredesign principles: Computer Architecture, Electrical Engineering,Power Design,Signal Integrity
  • Experienceexecutinghardwarevalidationand functional test plans
  • Hands-onusing high-speed scopes,busprotocolanalyzer,logic analyzers,etc.
  • Experience working across disciplines and organizations
  • Excellentteamplayer
  • Experience with high volume hardware production in server area
  • Experience with high-speed and high-powerproductsdesign
  • Experience leading,planning and running regular status and execution meetings

Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
