Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Director ensures surgical instruments are clean, maintained, reprocessed, and sterilized utilizing all standards for quality and patient safety. Responsible for just in time par levels of surgical inventory for the Surgical Services Department. Demonstrates willingness to work in other areas of the Oklahoma Heart Hospital, as needed. Demonstrates knowledge and adheres to federal and state regulations. Actively participates in the routine biological checks of sterilizers. Collaborates with the Director, resource nurse and all other team members in idea sharing, utilization of resources, as well as assists in the cross training of the staff when assigned. Assists the Director achieve the hospital mission, and incorporating the values of the hospital in day-to-day activities. Participates in and encourages teamwork to provide patient-focused care.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates all equipment efficiently in the department to include instrumentation, electronic, sterilizers, and computer equipment utilized in the department within the scope of practice.
  • Assists the surgical team in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Trouble-shoots and assesses equipment failure and provide a backup plan when needed.
  • Ensures that all supplies are available as needed for each procedure.
  • Participates in the total maintenance of the department.

LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume daily lead function in resolving issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Act as a key point of contact for staff
  • Monitor to assure customer service is appropriate
  • Assist with coordination and training of staff
  • Assist Director with updating and maintaining procedural changes
  • Maintain efficient workflow and staff dynamics
  • Monitor staff scheduling and coverage

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of accredited Scrub technician program preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of continuous CV Surgery experience preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
