Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to support for the Veteran Affairs (VA) VistA experience to support legacy VA applications. The candidate will provide software engineering and integration support for the Veterans Affairs (VA) Independent Enterprise Testing Support Services (IETSS) contract.



Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    Evaluate, recommend, and implement test data strategies
  • Understanding project architecture, test environment, test data needs
  • Support various applications such as, but not limited to, re-hosted VistA legacy, Cerner Millennium, and COTS/GOTS integration with VistA legacy.
  • Contribute to the overall performance and success of the project and will be primarily responsible for preparing test data for EHRM interface testing activities.
  • Demonstrate hands-on software, system architecture, interface testing, and database development and/or enhancement experience.
  • Collaborate and actively participate in meetings with stakeholders, other Engineers and Subject Matter Experts.
  • Work both independently and in a team setting promoting a collaborative work environment with team members and customers, defining, organizing, and/or presenting detailed information and data needed to accomplish organization and engineering goals.


Minimum Requirements

  • At least 10 years of overall information technology experience. Experience must include 5+ years in Software Engineering including integration experience, architecture analysis, and testing the integration between applications, databases, and external applications.
  • At least 5 years of experience in VA VistA Data management with Mumps/Cache and either Oracle or SQL Server in a UNIX/VMS/Windows environment.
  • Candidate should be experienced in VistA data setup, patching, and PSI Patch project execution and status tracking/reporting.
  • Candidate should be able to execute periodic data loads from VistA to VX130 databases and provide support for various mission critical database builds.
  • Candidate should be able to prepare test data for EHRM Interfaces and to correlate VA patients with DOD systems. Should be able to validate the correlation between sites in MPI.
  • Candidate should be experienced in IdMTool kit to pull and compare patient records for merging and fixing the data.
  • Candidate should be experienced in the use of building Intersystems Cache database objects and executing Intersystems CACHE SQL to query and review data in VistA backend databases.

Required Technical/Business Tools Experience:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Communication tools (Teams, SharePoint)


Desired Qualifications

  • Access to VA network is a big plus
  • Experience with Oracle Millennium is preferred.
  • Healthcare, VA and DoD architecture/engineering experience would be a plus.
  • Specific experience with FileMan, Kernel, VMS, Vista Internals, Vitria, and BusinessWare preferred.
  • Experience with:
    • HP Quality Center and Rational Clear Quest
    • Risk based testing methodologies
