Essential Job Duties
Research in chemical ecology, behavior and physiology of insects. The research assistant will assist in research on semiochemicals of insects, including oviposition attractants in sand flies, sex and aggregation pheromones of cockroaches, and pheromones and host-finding semiochemicals in bed bugs. The research assistant will support a highly specialized multi-disciplinary research program and will make substantive contributions to design, method development and validation, and data collection on several projects. The research assistant will be expected to demonstrate creativity and some independent judgment in the execution of multiple research projects. Research will involve specialized behavioral assays (olfactometers) and analytical equipment (GC, GC-MS), so it is essential that the research assistant carefully plans and executes experimental protocols.
