Analyst, Strategic Initiatives & Proposal Management

Position Summary

As the Analyst, Strategic Initiatives & Proposal Management within the Business & Strategy department you will synthesize market research to identify industry trends, monitor historical business development patterns, and evaluate new opportunities using both qualitative and quantitative data. You will maintain a comprehensive development pipeline, coordinate proposal preparation and submission efforts across teams, support external outreach, and ensure smooth handoff of awarded projects while contributing to broader departmental initiatives. You will interact with individuals at all levels, inside and outside the organization and contribute to national level work that is guiding the future trajectory of the mental health and substance use delivery system. The Business & Strategy department leads and supports business development opportunities that ultimately advance National Council strategy and mental health and substance use project work.

This is an individual contributor role without direct reports. While this position can be done remotely from anywhere in the U.S., you must primarily accommodate our Washington, D.C. business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.

Key Responsibilities

• Synthesizes market research to determine mental health and substance use treatment industry trends and funding priorities
• Monitors historical business development trends
• Identifies forecasted and new business development opportunities
• Develops and regularly updates a business development pipeline
• Evaluates business development opportunities utilizing qualitative and quantitative data
• Supports the coordination of business development resources and templates
• Collaborates with program departments to proactively update key business development materials (e.g., project descriptions, biographies, resumes and skill matrices)
• Supports external outreach to funders and partners (e.g., meeting scheduling, note taking and follow-up)
• Coordinates preparedness activities prior to the release of business development opportunities
• Coordinates the successful submission of business development opportunities, including collaboration with internal teams
• Coordinates handoff to project teams upon award
• Supports department-wide initiatives and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of professionally relevant experience with at least 1 year in member, customer or client-focused roles
• Ability to take qualitative and quantitative data and synthesize information into digestible materials that assist with decision-making
• Proficiency in various technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office - MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Microsoft Dynamics)
• Strong writing abilities across different styles (e.g., email correspondence, presentation slide decks, one-pagers or other brief documents)
• Ability to contribute to a strong team-based environment
• High attention to detail
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment to the National Council's mission
• Effective communication and demonstrated professionalism and business acumen
• Future focus

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $76,972 to $97,226. Salary decisions within the range are based on experience, education and internal equity.
