The mission of the Georgia Tech Office of Budget Planning and Administration (Budget Office) is to: Prepare, maintain, monitor and develop reporting mechanisms, systems and databases on all annual institutional budgets at Georgia Tech according to established Institute and University System of Georgia policies; Assist budget staff and administrative heads of colleges, schools, and other Institute units in executing the approved annual budgets; Provide assistance to executive staff in long-term budgeting and program planning for Georgia Tech, as well as forecasting of financial results and positioning against budget data; and Support decision making by providing timely and accurate reports to executive staff in maximizing the Institutes use of available resources to the end of providing high quality instruction, research, and public service to students, funding agencies, private businesses, and other customers of Georgia Tech.
Job Summary
Application Developers are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that support the institutions goals and meet user needs. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and implementing effective solutions to enhance application functionality, performance, and user experience. The developer ensures that applications are scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices in software development.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Design, develop, and implement software applications that meet user requirements and align with institutional objectives.
Job Duty 2 - Perform testing and debugging of applications to identify and resolve issues, ensuring optimal functionality and performance.
Job Duty 3 - Maintain and update existing software applications, implementing enhancements and modifications based on user feedback and technological advancements.
Job Duty 4 - Document application development processes, including design specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation for future reference.
Job Duty 5 - Participate in project management activities, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure timely delivery of application development projects.
Job Duty 6 - Stay current with industry trends and best practices in application development, incorporating new technologies and methodologies as appropriate.
Job Duty 7 - Provide technical support and training to end-users, assisting them in effectively utilizing software applications to enhance their productivity.
Job Duty 8 - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate applications with other systems and ensure seamless data exchange across platforms. Job Duty 9 - Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that applications address the needs of various departments and users. Job Duty 10 - Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.
Required Experience 6+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience Experience in Higher Education is also preferred Preferred Qualifications: Microsoft Office Suite Microsoft Web Development Proficient in data query languages, e.g. SQL Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Strong knowledge of C# and Microsoft Visual Studio programming with MVC and Bootstrap frameworks/Proficient in C# .Net in MVC environment Proficient in web technologies including ASP.NET, JQuery, Bootstrap Exposure to Azure Cloud and Oracle Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Advanced knowledge in Windows operating system Working knowledge with server hardware/software running Windows Server PowerShell Exposure to Workday General computer maintenance knowledge
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
SKILLS This job requires a working knowledge of information technology support systems related to budget accounting. Skills in database administration, project planning, management and implementation for web-based and PC platforms is required as well as specific software systems and applications.
