Position Summary
The Finance Department at UIC's College of Business Administration is looking for up to two non-tenure system adjunct faculty members who could develop and teach the following two undergraduate courses:

  • Property and Casualty Insurance, to be tentatively first taught during the Fall 2026 semester,

  • Insurance Company Operations, to be tentatively first taught during the Spring 2027 semester.

    Adjunct faculty positions are typically part-time positions that are compatible with other full-time work. Going forward, we expect to offer these courses at least once each academic year, so the position is expected to have continuity beyond the 2026-2027 academic year.

    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach one (or both) of the following two courses:
  • Property and Casualty Insurance.
  • Insurance Company Operations.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    • A master's (or PhD) degree in risk management and insurance or a closely related field such as Business, Finance, Economics from an AACSB-accredited institution
    • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management and insurance principles appropriate for undergraduate instruction
    • Ability to teach undergraduate-level courses and to assess student learning outcomes in accordance with university and departmental standards


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Significant professional experience (5+ years) in risk management, insurance, or a closely related field
    • Professional designations in risk management and insurance
    • Prior college-level teaching experience
