We are looking for an exceptional Data Scientist to collaborate closely with our data science and engineering teams to build advanced analytics solutions that improve data center capacity delivery. In this role, you will partner with crossfunctional stakeholders to shape business requirements, drive standardization of inputs, and help define a longterm analytical vision that influences how Microsoft delivers cloud capacity at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Build scalable data assets (dashboards, underlying data models, and workflows) to provide reliable and high velocity decision support
  • Oversee the lifecycle of analytics artifacts (e.g., models, dashboards) from data analysis, creation to deployment, and ensure robustness and scalability.
  • Data Preparation and Understanding: Assistwith extract transform load (ETL), addressdata quality issues, apply the right analysis techniques and leveragethe right data exploration technologies and tools (e.g., structured query language (SQL), Python, descriptive statistics, etc.).
  • Buildend-to-end Business Intelligence (BI) Solutions: Ownbusiness customer relationship, BI reporting, Data Quality/Security aspects by adopting standard architectural standards.
  • Apply statistical methods, causal inference, and machine learning to inform data center business decisions, and optimize our processes and systems.
  • Deeply understand the data center delivery cycle and underlying data to support leadership and stakeholders make data-driven decisions and continuous process improvements.
  • Partner closely with cross functional stakeholders to build and deliver world-class support and data insights.
    Guide business leaders with confidence in your analytics and reporting to ensure smooth execution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to take an ambiguous business problem statement, refine the scope, conduct the analysis, and use the results to drive informed decisions.
  • Summarize and clearly communicate data analysis assumptions and results.
  • Mentor and support the growth of colleagues, stay current with advances in analytics, and foster a culture of learning and innovation.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) or consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ year(s) hands-on experience in SQL queries.
  • 2+ year(s) hands-on experience in a data visualization tool like Power BI.
  • 2+ year(s) hands-on experience in AI, ML or statistical modeling.
  • 2+ year(s) hands-on experience in data acquisition/ETL.
  • Experience in data center infrastructure.

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
