Position Description

The Internal Communications Coordinator is responsible for executing internal communications strategies that engage employees, strengthen organizational culture, and ensure consistent and coordinated messaging across all levels of the organization. This role requires exceptional writing skills and the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders of all levels throughout the company. This position reports under the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Engagements to the Sr. Marketing Communications Project Manager but will be responsible for developing relationships with employees across the organization, including the Business Development and Communications (BDC) team, leadership teams, division heads, Project Management Office (PMO), Learning and Professional Development (LPD) and HR teams and supporting teams and clients to accomplish program goals and objectives.

**This position offers a hybrid schedule (in-office & remote/work from home) or an onsite schedule and flexible hours. Candidates will need to reside near Charleston, SC to ensure work site flexibility.**


Essential Functions

Internal Communication Planning and Execution
  • As directed, develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies aligned with organizational goals and values
  • As directed, create tools to help coordinate messaging across multiple channels and departments
  • Identify opportunities to enhance employee engagement and information flow throughout the organization
  • Promote the ATI brand and help tell ATI's story. This includes documenting company events, maintaining newsletter planning documents, collecting newsletter content from ATI employees, and compiling all information to create the newsletter.
  • Manage the overall company event calendar; identify and resolve potential scheduling conflicts.

Stakeholder Management & Interviews
  • Conduct regular interviews with internal stakeholders across all levels, from executives to frontline employees
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with department and division heads, team leaders, and key personnel
  • Gather insights, stories, and information to inform content development and strategic direction
  • Compile information to help facilitate feedback loops between employees and management

Content Creation & Management
  • Write, edit, and produce high-quality content for various internal channels including intranet, newsletters, emails, presentations, and digital platforms
  • Develop compelling employee stories and organizational updates
  • Maintain brand voice and messaging consistency across all internal communications

Quality Assurance & Standards
  • Establish and maintain high editorial standards for all internal communications
  • Review and edit content from various contributors to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with organizational tone
  • Ensure all communications are inclusive, accessible, and culturally sensitive

Internal Client Support & Marketing Content
  • Provide writing and editing support for internal clients' communication needs, including presentations, reports, and promotional materials
  • Offer consultation on messaging, tone, and content strategy for department-specific initiatives
  • Edit and refine marketing content to ensure alignment with organizational brand standards

Qualifications
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related role
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies
  • Employee must be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization, or a green card lawful U.S. permanent resident, or a political asylum in the U.S. Individual must meet the definition of "a U.S. person" upon hire due to the risk assessment of this position (all other roles)

Skills & Competencies
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong interviewing and active listening skills with the ability to extract compelling stories
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels
  • Proficiency with communications platforms, content management systems, and collaboration tools
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Adaptability and composure when managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in internal communications, external communications, public relations, or social media management
  • Background in brand voice development and audience engagement across multiple platforms
  • Experience with employee engagement platforms and internal communications measurement tools
  • Understanding of change management principles and internal communications during organizational transitions
  • Experience writing for diverse formats including video scripts, visual content, and digital platforms
  • Knowledge of and prior experience with communications analytics and reporting
