Job Description




As a Security Officer - Courthouse Screener in Detroit, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Patrol Officer supporting a government location. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to reports with calm, clear communication. You will document observations, assist visitors and staff with professional customer service, and work as part of a team that is agile, reliable, innovative, and committed to integrity and a people-first culture.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to guests, employees, and visitors at a government location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Perform access control duties such as monitoring entry points, verifying credentials when required, and directing visitors to the appropriate department or point of contact.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to supervisors and/or local authorities as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of buildings, corridors, parking areas, and perimeter areas, with working environments and conditions that may vary by site.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and/or other security-related systems to help identify unusual activity and report concerns.
  • Document and report daily activities, incidents, and observations using written logs and/or electronic reporting systems.
  • Assist with crowd and traffic flow during public meetings, events, and peak visitor periods, following site instructions and applicable procedures.
  • Provide general information and directions to the public while maintaining awareness of security-related concerns.
  • Support emergency and non-emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather response, and/or medical response by following post orders and communicating updates to the appropriate contacts.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned in accordance with site policies and Allied Universal standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess a valid Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
